Art as Sacred Offering.....




Dear friends,


There is a quiet revolution unfolding here - not the kind shouted through screens, but whispered through brush strokes, through bare feet on forest paths, through mornings spent in stillness with a coffee and two bengal kittens. This is a love letter, a beginning, and a vow to create from a place of depth and presence. Thank you for being here - for entering this space intentionally, with your heart open.


For the next season - a year, maybe more - I am stepping away from the noise. Most social media has been removed from my phone. The doors to distraction are closed. I’m no longer curating moments in pretty sundresses beneath artificial light. My art studio is not a set. It is now an ashram - a sanctuary.


A sacred ground where art is born not for likes or sales, but from presence, from devotion, from a deep desire to connect with something real.


No phones are allowed. No performances.



This newsletter is now the primary way I will connect with my online community - a woven thread between souls, for those who want to walk this path with me. Those who believe that art can be a prayer, a mirror, a medicine. A way to remember that we are, always, in love with the world.




Two Ways of Creating


In my practice, I find myself dancing between two ways of making - one that is carefully chosen, like a ritual, and one that is wild, intuitive, and free.


There are days when I sit with a theme, a vision. I look at a photo, trace the lines, plan the palette. Realism, yes - but the colours always betray me. They want to sing. They spill over, becoming too bright, too full of feeling. My watercolours refuse to behave. The piece becomes poetic whether I intended it or not.


And then there are the days when I simply show up - no plan, no structure. Just paint, movement, breath. It’s like automatic writing, like Julia Cameron’s morning pages - a release, a download, a clearing. I doodle. I mark. I follow sensation. Some pieces feel like secrets I never meant to tell. Some I keep to myself. Some bloom into something honest and unshaped, alive with energy. Not made to sell or show - made to heal.


This is how I live - moving between intention and surrender, between form and formlessness. Between what I can hold and what I can only feel.





The Nature of Creativity: A Sacred Intelligence


In my studies of neuroleadership, I’ve come to see creativity not just as talent, but as a sacred intelligence - a conversation between mind, heart, and spirit. Our brains, in their wonder, are wired to toggle between structure and flow. The prefrontal cortex helps us plan, focus, refine. The default mode network lets us drift, imagine, dream. True creativity comes from honouring both.


So I honour the structure - the detailed sketch, the thoughtful brush. And I honour the flow - the moments when the colours take me somewhere I didn’t expect. Both are sacred. Both are part of the offering.



The Collections: A Journey

  • The Enchanted Garden (Watercolour): a return to art through botanical forms, painted with dry technique, grounded in realism and stillness.

  • The Canadian Landscape (Watercolour): en plein air pieces born in the wild - the breath of Alberta and BC captured in colour and motion.

  • Room for Happiness (Acrylic): en plein air landscapes and art for joy’s sake - spontaneous, light-filled, unbound.

  • Golden Collection (Acrylic and Watercolour): spirit-infused works echoing Tibetan symbolism, art for social change, activism, and the courage of sacred protectors - like the Snow Lion painted for Kushok, a Tibetan monk and good friend.

  • Abstract Resonance (Acrylic): this new direction has been inspired by “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron and specifically my morning stream of consciousness journaling practice.

  • The Art of Medicine (In Creation - Acrylic and Watercolour): my deepest and most healing work yet - an exploration of nature as a healer, art as medicine, creation as integration.


And along the way, there is some photography - light caught in the mountains, in lakes, in the curve of a leaf. A reminder that beauty is always here, waiting.



Choosing the Path


A well renowned LA curator once told me, “You have a gift. Choose your path." Artists have told me watercolour doesn’t sell. That I should abandon it. Others (including my parents) have laughed - said there’s no future in it and I should STOP painting... and yet… here we are.


A course by Marnie Ward, one of the great botanical artists, waits in my inbox, untouched. I am thinking to begin it. And yet I question - which path do I follow?


Last year, I painted a massive botanical acrylic - 48x60 - which later became something entirely different: The Wheel of Time. A piece full of symbolism, full of surrender. A testament to the truth that creation transforms us, not just the canvas.


I dream of creating a collection that transcends. One that’s worthy of San Francisco Museum of Modern Art - not for the prestige, but because I believe in art that uplifts, that heals, that reveals. I believe in art as a revolution towards more holistic living on an individual and collective levels.
